The Life of a Victorian Genius

Watching Harry Potter films on tv seems to have become a Christmas tradition, now. The dubbing is terrible (both in Spanish and Catalan) but it's nonetheless fun. Not as much fun as Doctor Who last night, though. Apparently, snow + steampunk + David Morrisey = JOY! Especially when David Tennant and David Morrisey have such an astonishing chemistry going on. There were so many sparkles in my screen that I thought I had forgotten to clean my glasses. But no, it was the sex emanating from those two. Quite nice. It's weird how I seem to be growning fond of Rusty now that his era is coming to an end. I have the feeling I'll miss him (especially if His Royal Terrible Actor Patterson Joseph gets to be Eleven).

Also watched Crooked House, last night. Rather daft ghost stories but still entertaining. And had Julian Rhind-Tutt in a wig, pregnant Daniela Denby-Ashe, and Lee Ingleby whom I adore.

I'll go back to enjoy the wonderful Beatrix Potter's biography Linda Lear wrote read by Lindsay Duncan at BBC7, now, but I'll leave you with some slightly belated Holiday wishes from our favourite Prince and his very loyal and magical boyfriend manservant.

Too much time in my hands, I know.

But I'm in need, too...

The amount of squee after watching all the Children in Need specials this year has been high and my head is not clear enough to make proper reviews so, here, have some bullet points:

. QI. Waaaaaaaaah. I went completely insane waiting for it and then it was so short and there was so little Alan! David Mitchell was splendid, as always, and so was Stephen but I missed a more "classic panel" (Where was my Jo Brand, and Sean Lock and Rich Hall and crossing-my-fingers-for-him Bill Bailey?). It was still good, because there can't be bad QI but definitely somewhat lacking.

. Ashes to Ashes/Top Gear - WTF happened to Marshall's hair!? It was yucky. Apart from that... I have missed my boys (and girl) so much! Can it be next year now?

. Merlin. I Lol'd. Hard. It was so silly and all the actors were so clearly trying not to laugh. It's horrible, yellow and has only one eye!. A creature of charity? Even Richard Wilson was struggling with his lines, there. XD

. Doctor Who. OMG. I know, I know, fake Dickensian England is fake, but can I go and live there? With David Morrissey and his false hopes for better Doctors?

Edit. Forgot to say: THEY ARE DOING NEW RED DWARF SPECIALS!

I shouldn't be this excited because, honestly, series 8 was crappy and the new stuff will probably be as bad, but I can't help it. It makes me so happy that they are at it again.

Aliens in Lottery

OMG, one of the Slitheen from 'Aliens in London' stars in the new ad of the Loterías del Estado (Spanish Public Lottery)!

Weeeeeeeird.

I hope they don't keep him for the traditional Christmas ads or I'll start to suspect an alien conspiracy. Also, isn't it even more suspicious that the promo airs the same day as the first episode of the new SJA series?
Mood: surprised surprised

OMG, that was EPIC!

I cried buckets and now I'm too sleepy to write a proper review but... WOAH! And... sigh!

There goes another series I'll buy when the dvd comes out. It'll go right together with the first one because it's just as awesome.

Nobody Expects Raffaella Carra!

Especially not in Doctor Who. But if Rusty does it, I will do it too and no sonic device will save you all, this time. MUAHAHAHAHAH!

Here, have her!

Donna, shouting to the Doctor in Catalan since 2008.

Well, it's been confirmed: Donna is awesome in every language. She even said Ten is "escanyolit*" (she stole my phrase!), and then she wanted to "donar-li un mastegot*". LOL! She sounds hilarious in Catalan. And very sexy, too.

*luvs 'er*

*I'm the worst translator ever but escanyolit means something like "meagre", "slim" or "skinny" in a sort of informal, funny way. Donar un mastegot means er... "smack him"? "slap him", perhaps? I don't know, Catalan expressions sound really silly.

EDIT: Para la xerrameca (could be "stop babbling")? Ni de conya, marcià ("no way, Martian")? Oooh, that's too good!

EDIT II: I didn't mention it because I'm stooopid but, obviously, I'm watching The Runaway Bride on the Catalan telly.

Are you my Mummy?

The Doctor made a Nine reference! I declare this series is almost making up for all the crap in the previous one. Ten doesn't even act like a twat, anymore! And Donna is still all over it being great and spectacularly funny and caring and real. It's too good to be true.

Um, I need an "All hail Donna, the perfect companion" icon, now.
